After returning from serving in the Air Force and college, 1950-1954, Tyler's Grandfather (Pa Pa) worked for Standard Roofing in OKC. In the Fall of 1961, he was transferred to Tulsa with Standard Roofing. After a few years, Standard Roofing wanted to transfer him back to OKC but they liked Tulsa so much that they stayed here and started Frontier Roofing Co. in 1963 doing commercial roofing. It was hot tar and gravel back in those days. He did that for many years and then moved into commercial urethane foam roofing application and changed the company name to USI (Urethane Systems Inc.). He eventually retired from roofing and closed USI in the late 1980’s. Pa Pa’s roofing career spanned over 35+ years.
